Georgia, UES in Pact

TBILISI, Georgia -- Georgia's Fuel and Energy Ministry and the Russian electricity monopoly United Energy Systems on Monday signed an agreement on possible Russian participation in the privatization of Georgia's energy facilities.

Under the agreement, UES is to receive proposals on privatization participation by April.

Also, according to the protocol, Georgia will assist UES in the construction of a power line linking the energy systems of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, and UES will give Georgia an opportunity to join a project to build a power line from Dagestan to Georgia.
