Gas Tariff Cut

MOSCOW -- Russia will cut the export tariff on liquefied gases to between 40 and 50 euros per ton from the current level of 60 euros ($60.15), a spokesman for the tariff policy department at the Trade Ministry said.

"The government commission on protective measures in foreign trade has decided to recommend cutting the tariff by 10 to 20 euros," he said Monday.

"But the exact figure will be known only when a [government] resolution is finalized, and this will happen in the nearest future," he added

The government hiked the export tariff on liquefied gases to 60 euros per ton from Nov. 12 from the previous level of 5 percent of its customs value, but no less than two euros per ton, in order to guarantee supplies to domestic consumers.
