Accord on Oil Pipeline

TBILISI, Georgia -- Turkish President Suleyman Demirel discussed a key oil pipeline with Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze on Saturday and said the talks had removed hurdles to agreeing the legal basis for the construction of the line.

"We do not see any problems for this project to be implemented," Demirel, in Georgia for a two-day visit, said at a news conference with Shevardnadze.

Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia signed four documents in November setting up the legal framework for a $2.4 billion pipeline to carry oil from the Azeri capital, Baku, through Georgia to Turkey's southern Ceyhan oil terminal.
