Ukraine Pursues Loans

KIEV -- A Ukrainian government delegation left Thursday for talks at the International Monetary Fund in Washington with officials saying they were optimistic about securing new loans.

The IMF put its $2.6 billion loan program for Ukraine on hold in August after a fund mission to Ukraine found government revenues had fallen below IMF-set targets and economic reforms were drifting.

The Ukrainian delegation wants to settle unresolved questions before an IMF executive board meeting on Ukraine set for Sept. 7.
