Security Increased

VILNIUS, Lithuania -- Lithuania said Friday it was beefing up security at key installations across the nation, including at the Ignalina nuclear power plant, in response to the recent bombings in Russia.

Police in the former Soviet republic said measures would include boosting the number of security guards at some sites and more thorough searches of vehicles at border crossings.

In addition to Ignalina, located 130 kilometers northeast of Vilnius, security will also be stepped up at oil terminals, airports and railway stations, police said.
