Kournikova Snubbed

MOSCOW -- Russian captain Konstantin Bogorodetsky has stuck to his guns and overlooked Anna Kournikova for next week's Fed Cup tennis final against the United States.

He is pinning his faith in the winning quartet of Yelena Likhovtseva, Tatyana Panova, Yelena Dementyeva and Yelena Makarova - the team that beat France and Slovakia in the semifinals.

Russia will face a star-studded U.S. lineup of Lindsay Davenport, Venus and Serena Williams, and Monica Seles in California on Sept. 18 to 19.

"The girls who got us to the final have earned the right to play in it," Bogorodetsky said.

Kournikova, the American-based 18-year-old, ranked 14 in the world, has repeatedly refused to turn out for her native country, but last month indicated she would play if asked.
