Kidnappers Arrested

MOSCOW -- Ten people were arrested in Siberia after police broke up a kidnapping ring that abducted school children and held them for ransom, Itar-Tass reported Thursday.

The suspects were charged with kidnapping an unspecified number of children and demanding 70,000 rubles ($2,770) for each of them, police in the city of Irkutsk said.

All the kidnapped children were eventually released, the report said. It didn't specify whether any ransoms had been paid or when the abductions took place.
