IMF Tranche Expected

MOSCOW -- The government expects to get the next $640 million tranche of a $4.5 billion loan package from the International Monetary Fund in October, a top official said Friday.

"There is a possibility that a decision involving the tranche will be made by mid-October," First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Khristenko said. That would mean the loan would be received at the end of that month.

Khristenko said an audit of the Central Bank's transactions through offshore subsidiaries has not come up with evidence of wrongdoing by the bank or the government.
