Fuel Export Suspended

MOSCOW -- Exports of fuel oil have been stopped until Sept. 20, Interfax says.

It quoted an official at the Ministry of Fuel and Energy as saying the government had issued an order implementing the ban to the State Customs Committee.

Interfax quoted Vladimir Yemelyanov, spokesman for the State Customs Committee, as confirming that he had received an order that until Sept. 20 all Russian-made fuel oil should be used only for domestic consumption.

The decision to suspend exports was prompted by the need to increase fuel oil stores before the winter, Interfax said.
