Inflation 'Inside Limit'

MOSCOW -- Acute gasoline shortages did not cause price rises this month and the rises were within predicted limits, Interfax quoted a senior government economics expert as saying Thursday.

Vladimir Mau, head of the Economic Reform Center, said the impact of the gasoline crisis would take a month or two to be felt, Interfax reported.

The agency quoted Mau saying that 0.4 percent inflation in the first nine days of August was "totally within the limits of what was forecast."
