MOSCOW -- An International Monetary Fund team visit to Moscow will go ahead as planned despite the dismissal of the Sergei Stepashin Cabinet, Interfax reported Tuesday.
The IMF has not notified the Russian Foreign Ministry of any intention to change the visit date, the agency quoted an unidentified ministry source as saying. The IMF technical experts are expected in Moscow on Aug. 19, and the team leaders on Aug. 24, the source told Interfax.
Findings by the team on Russia's budgetary, crediting and monetary performance will influence the fund's decision on a $640 million loan tranche.
