Berezovsky Calls Swiss Report a Lie

Controversial tycoon Boris Berezovsky said Friday that a report in a Swiss newspaper that his bank accounts in Switzerland had been frozen was "an absolute lie," Interfax reported.

The Swiss newspaper Facts, citing unnamed sources, reported Berezovsky's accounts had been frozen at the request of Russian prosecutors investigating his financial affairs. Berezovsky, however, said that the report was "completely false and made up," Interfax reported.

Prosecutors say they are probing whether Berezovsky skimmed Aeroflot's hard currency receipts through a Swiss-based company, Andava. Berezovsky, a former government official and a Kremlin insider, denies ties to Andava or Aeroflot.

Berezovsky, who was interviewed by Interfax in Khabarovsk during a trip through Siberia and the Far East, said the criminal investigation has been concocted by his business and political rivals.
