Baby Boom at Airline

LONDON -- British Airways has been hit by a baby boom among its stewardesses - 600 of them are set to give birth around the turn of the millennium.

Many of the stewardesses have been transferred to check-in desks at London's Heathrow Airport.

An airline spokeswoman said Thursday the jobs of the pregnant women would be filled temporarily by recalling crews on secondment or by hiring people on part-time contracts.
