Joint Market Still On

LONDON -- The London Stock Exchange and Deutsche B?rse sharply rejected Thursday a newspaper report that said talks to create a pan-European stock market had collapsed.

The British and German stock exchanges said in a joint statement that they were progressing work together with six other European exchanges in taking the project forward.

In June, the LSE and Deutsche B?rse announced plans to harmonize trading hours for their markets from Sept. 20.

The German business daily Handelsblatt reported in its Thursday edition that the planned linkup had faltered over who would own the joint entity.
