DT Mum on Reports

FRANKFURT, Germany -- Deutsche Telekom AG on Thursday declined to comment on reports that it was close to buying British mobile group One2One and was also in talks to buy France Telecom SA's stake in Sprint Corp. "We don't comment on such speculation," spokesman Ulrich Lissek said.

Britain's Independent newspaper said the German phone company had landed an option for exclusive negotiations to buy One2One from owners Cable & Wireless PLC and MediaOne Group Inc. of the United States.

Telekom had offered pounds 7.5 billion ($12 billion) for One2One and a deal was likely this week, the paper said.

The Wall Street Journal Europe said Telekom was in talks to acquire France Telecom's 10 percent stake in Sprint.
