Disney Deal Delayed

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong passed its original deadline for striking a deal to bring a Disney theme park to the territory and needs more time to negotiate with the Walt Disney Co., officials said Wednesday.

Hong Kong's secretary for economic services, Stephen Ip, and the tourism commissioner and chief negotiator on the Disney proposal, Mike Rowse, scheduled a Thursday news conference on "the progress of negotiations.''

Rowse plans to announce that the "talks will continue,'' government spokeswoman Debbie Ho said.
