Bombers on Trial

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan -- Twenty people suspected of involvement in bombings in the Uzbek capital went on trial Wednesday on charges of terrorism and attempting to kill the president.

Last month, the Uzbek Supreme Court convicted 22 people of playing a role in the bombings that killed 16. Six of the defendants were sentenced to death, and the rest got prison terms ranging from 10 and 20 years.

The trial against the 20 new suspects opened Wednesday at Uzbekistan's Supreme Court.
