Yagudin on Probation

MOSCOW -- Russia's Figure Skating Federation has put two-time world champion Alexei Yagudin on probation for one year for improper behavior during a tour last month, according to press reports Friday.

Yagudin, 19, was dismissed from the John Hancock Champions on Ice tour after a performance May 27 in Denver because of improper behavior.

The federation gave Yagudin a one-year probation, the daily Segodnya reported Friday.

"We have made a harsh decision, but the probation will allow Yagudin to continue taking part in competitions," federation chief Valentin Piseyev was quoted by the newspaper as saying.
