Tourist Not Guilty

DUBAI, United arab Emirates, -- A British woman has been found not guilty of manslaughter over the death of a Russian tourist in a high-speed jet ski collision, her lawyer said.

Michel Chalhoub said Sunday that his client Kathleen Morgan, a 37-year-old mother of three from St. Albans, England, was informed of the verdict by telephone. They were not at the court at the time.

Chalhoub said the decision was a just one. Morgan had always contended Russian Mikhail Malenkov was not in full control of his jet ski when the two collided on Dubai Creek in April.

If found guilty, she could have been jailed or forced to pay $40,000 in "blood money" to the victim's family.
