Tajikistan Wins Loans

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan -- The World Bank has approved three credits to the former Soviet republic of Tajikistan worth a total of $31.7 million, a bank official said Tuesday.

Matin Kholmatov, assistant to the bank's permanent representative, said the first credit of $6.7 million would be used to top up an existing $50 million loan earmarked for structural reforms.

A further $20 million would be used to support the privatization of farms.
