Swiss To Compensate

TEL AVIV, Israel -- After years of waiting, tens of thousands of Holocaust survivors and heirs of victims were given information Tuesday about how a $1.25 billion fund set up by two Swiss banks will be divided among them.

The fund was established more than 10 months ago after an out-of-court settlement between the banks and 31,000 plaintiffs listed in a class action suit.

Lawyers and Jewish organizations in seven countries began laying out plans Tuesday to find additional claimants and distribute the money.
