Fire Called Coverup

MOSCOW -- Police believe a fire that swept through a St. Petersburg apartment Friday was intended to mask a triple homicide, a news agency reported.

The fire broke out Friday morning in the western Russian city, Itar-Tass reported. Investigators found the bodies of an Armenian man, his Uzbek wife and their 18-year-old daughter.

Authorities believe the three were killed before the fire, and that it was deliberately set and fueled by gasoline, the news agency reported.

No motive for the deaths had been established. Police did not say how they believe the three people were killed.
