Designs a 'Hymn to Femininity'

Local designer Anna Rossa presented her latest "Fascinated Soul" pret-a-porter collection for women last week at Moscow's Central Literary House.

"This is our first claim to fame," Rossa said as she revealed her fourth collection, which, with its smooth shapes and soft fabrics, some fashion buffs described as "a hymn to femininity."

The show revealed a collection consisting of various elements. Light grey, beige and black ankle-length coats were taken off to reveal silk dresses and tunics. Transparent crepe de Chine tops were accompanied by long, figure- concealing skirts. And giving a new touch to a popular trend, Rossa showed her light wool skirt-trousers: a streamlined skirt drapes one leg, while the other is covered by a single pant leg.

Traditionally, the show closed with Rossa's evening gown collection, including a white satin wedding dress. In contrast to the subdued colors that dominated the first half of the show, this part of the collection featured bold purple, wine, light emerald and brownish black. Fluffy skirts with corset tops added an extra touch of elegance.

"This is a continuation of what I have done before," said Rossa after the show. "The most important for me are the cut and plasticity of the fabric. They combine and begin to work together."

Although fascinated by some haute couture designers, Rossa prefers to create pr?t-?-porter fashion.

"For now I want to create clothes that will walk into your life right from the catwalk and you will be able to wear them," she said. "The best compliment a fashion designer can have is to see people actually wear his clothes."
