Debts Shut Gas Flow

MOSCOW -- Gas has been cut off to the capital of Kyrgyzstan, because its Central Asian neighbor Kazakhstan has reduced deliveries over unpaid bills, Interfax reported Tuesday.

Kyrgyzstan owes more than $3 million to Kazakhstan's Intergas company - a pipeline operator that transports natural gas from Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan, the news agency reported, citing Vladimir Likhachyov, head of Kyrgyzstan's gas company Kyrgyzgaz.

Kyrgyzstan is offering to supply industrial goods toward its debt, Likhachyov said. There was no response from the Kazakh pipeline operator.
