Barak Making Partners

JERUSALEM -- Prime Minister-elect Ehud Barak expected to pull together loose ends in talks with potential partners Tuesday with the aim of presenting his new coalition government within the next 10 days, an aide said.

David Ziso, Barak's spokesman, said an announcement would be made by Friday that a government will be formed. Barak has until a week from Friday to present his Cabinet to parliament.

"Whatever happens, there will be a government," Ziso said.

Barak, elected prime minister by a wide margin over incumbent Benjamin Netanyahu on May 17, is aiming toward a broad coalition that includes a controversial ultra-Orthodox Jewish faction, but not Netanyahu's hard-line Likud.
