20% VAT List Reset

MOSCOW -- Russia's government will from July 1 exclude some foodstuffs from a list of articles liable to a preferential 10 percent value-added tax rate instead of the standard 20 percent, a government resolution said.

White and raw sugar, meat and meat products, fish and seafood, eggs and egg products and feed grain are no longer on the list of articles which get the preferential rate, said the resolution, published over the weekend.

The former government last October set the lower rate on certain foodstuffs until June 1 to stimulate production after last year's financial crisis.
