Launch Delayed Again

MOSCOW -- A technical commission has decided to postpone once again the launch of the Proton booster rocket carrying a military communications satellite that was scheduled to be launched Friday evening from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, a news report said.

The launch was initially scheduled for Thursday but the Briz-M on-board control system started malfunctioning during the pre-launch tests and the commission put off the launch until Friday evening, Interfax reported, citing sources at the Khrunichev space center, which manufactures the Proton and the Briz.

The commission decided to replace the malfunctioning system, Interfax said.

The new launch date will be set later, Interfax reported.
