IMF Ups Kiev Loans

KIEV -- The International Monetary Fund has decided to increase its loan package for Ukraine by $366 million and to release about $181 million in credits, a senior official said Friday.

The money includes two installments of the IMF's existing $2.2 billion loan package to Ukraine and $50 million in extra loans, said Valery Lytvytsky, the presidential economic adviser.

The IMF board of directors, which met earlier in the week to approve the loans' release, was "pleasantly surprised ? that Ukraine has managed to carry out such a large volume of work," Lytvytsky said.
