Hawaii Landslide Fatal

HONOLULU -- A large landslide at Sacred Falls State Park killed six people and injured more than 50 others.

The landslide in the popular hiking area occurred Sunday afternoon near the pool at the base of the waterfall in the Koolau Mountains, about 50 kilometers north of Honolulu on the northeast side of the island of Oahu.

Paul Takamiya, plans and operations officer at Oahu Civil Defense, confirmed the deaths but had no details. He said 27 of the injured were taken to hospitals.
