Hanoi Backs Enterprise

HANOI, Vietnam -- The Vietnamese government plans to end constraints on private enterprises and equalize the playing field with state-owned businesses, local media reported Monday.

"If we want to create more jobs and become a rich country, we've got to allow various types of enterprises to get involved in the production cycle of the economy,'' the Vietnam Investment Review quoted Prime Minister Phan Van Khai as saying.

The National Assembly is considering a proposal designed to make it easier to set up a business and obtain a loan.
