Primakov to Visit Kiev

KIEV -- Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov was due to visit Kiev on Wednesday for talks with Ukrainian leaders on economic issues and the crisis in Kosovo, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry officials said Tuesday.

"Primakov will visit Ukraine [from Wednesday to Friday] to take part in the Russian-Ukrainian government commission headed by Primakov and Ukrainian Prime Minister Valery Pustovoitenko," Andriy Veselovsky, head of the analytical department at the Foreign Ministry, said at a news briefing.

Veselovsky said Primakov, who was expected to arrive Wednesday evening, and Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma were also expected to meet Moldovan President Petru Lucinschi and separatist leader Igor Smirnov.
