Food Aid Unhindered

MOSCOW -- Food shipments to Russia under European Union and U.S. aid programs are arriving this week, unaffected by the differences between Moscow and NATO over airstrikes in Yugoslavia, officials said Tuesday.

"The next shipment is due in St. Petersburg today or tomorrow," a spokesman for the European Commission's delegation in Moscow said Tuesday. He said the ship was carrying a consignment of wheat.

Another ship carrying Irish beef was expected to land in St. Petersburg in a few days, the spokesman said.

The U.S. Embassy has said the strikes would not affect the shipments.

The European Union and United States are delivering food worth about $1.5 billion.
