Pasko Trial Delayed

MOSCOW -- The treason trial of a military journalist accused of giving secret documents to a Japanese television station was postponed Monday for the second time in 10 days, a news report said.

The judge put off proceedings until Feb. 16 after Captain Grigory Pasko, who faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted, threatened to go on hunger strike unless the court allows one of his lawyers to work on the case.

Defense lawyer Karen Nersesian was booted from the case Jan. 29 for questions to a witness that the judge thought were inappropriate. The trial was postponed at the time until Monday after Pasko protested the expulsion.
