Telia IPO Less Likely

STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- Swedish Prime Minister Goran Persson said Monday that listing state-owned telecoms operator Telia on the bourse was not a priority following the collapse Thursday of its planned merger with Norwegian counterpart Telenor.

The $47 billion Telia-Telenor deal broke down last Thursday amid nationalist recriminations, bringing to an abrupt halt next April's planned listing of about 20 percent of the merged group which would have been the Nordic region's largest float.

The merger finally collapsed after months of squabbling with the final straw a boardroom battle over where to locate the prized mobile phone unit.
