Oil Pipeline Restarts

MOSCOW -- The pumping of oil along the Azerbaijani segment of the Baku-Novorossiisk pipeline has resumed, Interfax reported Wednesday.

The pipeline was put back into operation Tuesday evening after the conclusion of testing, according to an official at Azerbaijan International Operating Co., the consortium developing fields in the Azeri sector of the Caspian Sea and the operator of the pipeline segment.

The pipeline is now shipping 75,000 barrels per day. Both AIOC and Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR are exporting oil through the Baku-Novorossiisk, Interfax said.

The pipeline segment had been shut down Friday after an accident.
