Estonian Prices Surge

TALLINN, Estonia -- Estonian producer prices rose 0.4 percent, month-on-month, in November, boosted by rises in the chemical production and machinery and equipment manufacturing sectors, the statistics office said Monday.

The office said in a statement that prices in the chemical industry were - on a monthly basis - 2.7 percent higher in November while machinery and equipment production prices grew 2.5 percent.

The office added that 1.3 percent year-on-year increase in the producer price index in November was due largely to higher prices in the mining industry, which grew 5 percent on an annual basis last month.
