ECB Rates Stable

FRANKFURT, Germany -- The European Central Bank left all its key interest rates unchanged as expected at its regular biweekly council meeting Wednesday. The ECB said its 17-member Governing Council decided to leave its key refinancing rate unchanged at 3 percent, its marginal lending rate at 4 percent and its overnight deposit facility at 2 percent. It made no additional statements.

It was the ECB's last meeting of the year. It held the meeting one day earlier than usual to avoid coinciding with a meeting in Berlin on Thursday of the Group of 20, a new global forum created to help prevent financial crises.
