Diamond Output Plans

MOSCOW -- The mineral-rich republic of Sakha in north-eastern Siberia intends to produce $2 billion worth of rough diamonds annually by 2010, $500 million more than today, Interfax reported Monday.

It quoted the republic's president, Mikhail Nikolayev, as saying the outlook that rough diamond output could rise to $1.7 billion by 2005 as new fields come on stream.
