Crime Conference

HELSINKI, Finland -- Crime-busters from the European Union and Russia met in Helsinki on Wednesday, hoping to agree on greater cooperation in fighting organized crime, officials said.

Russia's Interior Minister Vladimir Rushailo and Director of Europol Jurgen Storbeck are attending the two-day conference, which is focusing on money laundering, drug trafficking and illegal immigration from Russia.

Russia is seeking EU help in fighting double invoicing, a widespread practice where Russian importers obtain two sets of invoices from their Western trading partners to lower the customs value of the goods they bring in.
