Bank Won't Pay Debts

MOSCOW -- The Central Bank does not plan to assist the Finance Ministry to pay foreign debts in December, Central Bank Chairman Viktor Gerashchenko said Tuesday in remarks reported by Prime-Tass.

Gerashchenko claimed that Finance Minister Mikhail Kasyanov had said the ministry has sufficient resources to pay all its foreign debt obligations in December, Prime-Tass reported.

In addition, Interfax quoted a ministry source as saying Russia had paid in full its debt to the International Monetary Fund in November. The payments were estimated to be $450 million to $470 million.
