Armenia Frees Azeri

YEREVAN, Armenia -- The Armenian government Wednesday freed an Azeri prisoner, Faradzhev Ragil, who was seized last year near the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia, officials said.

He was accompanied by a representative from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe to Baku, Azerbaijan, Wednesday morning, said a spokesman with Armenia's National Security Ministry.

The spokesman said Ragil's liberation was a "gesture of good will" by the Armenian government.

Ragil, a 19-year-old conscript, was taken prisoner in September 1998.
