Pope Not Coming Soon

MOSCOW -- The head of the Russian Orthodox Church said it's still too early to talk about a visit to Russia by Pope John Paul II, news agencies reported.

The pope has said he wants to improve relations with other Christian denominations, and is scheduled to visit Orthodox leaders in Georgia on Monday and Tuesday.

The Vatican has not planned a visit to Russia. But in response to reporters' questions, Patriarch Alexy II ruled out the possibility. He said many "bleeding" questions remained unresolved, and that "there can't be any talk" of a papal visit to Russia, Itar-Tass reported.
