ALMATY, Kazakhstan -- The World Bank said Friday it hoped to release two loan tranches worth $175 million to the former Soviet republic of Kazakhstan by the end of the year.

Kiyoshi Kodera, the bank's director for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, told a news conference that $100 million of the total would be paid towards pension reforms and the remaining $75 million to public sector resource management.
