5 Hostages Released

TBILISI, Georgia -- Five hostages held for months in Chechnya, including two women scientists from Poland and a construction worker from Turkey, have been released, officials said Tuesday.

The five were taken out of Chechnya and were on their way to Georgia, Chechnya's envoy to Georgia said.

The Polish women, Zofia Fiszer-Malanowska and Ewa Marchwinska-Wyrwal, are biologists who were working on a research project in southern Dagestan when they were abducted in August and taken to Chechnya.

The three other hostages, a Turk and two Russians, were kidnapped in February while working at a construction site, Georgian officials said.
