UES Plans Bond Issues

MOSCOW -- National power grid Unified Energy Systems plans to place a $120 million bond issue on Western markets, Interfax quoted the company as saying Thursday.

The company is working on plans for the issue to be backed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development with Alfa Bank and Salomon Smith Barney, the agency said.

UES is also getting ready to place ruble bonds indexed in dollars for foreign investors who hold 'S' type accounts in Russia.

The bond issue will be worth 2.5 billion rubles ($97.3 million) and placement will begin in mid-November, Interfax reported.
