Tajik Talks Falter

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan -- Tajikistan's main opposition group suspended its work on a national reconciliation commission Monday, after the government refused to put off next month's presidential election.

The United Tajik Opposition had accused the government and the Central Election Commission of being hostile toward candidates running against President Emomali Rakhmonov, and had laid out several demands, including suspending the Nov. 6 vote, that they demanded be fulfilled by Monday.
