Spokesman: Yeltsin OK

MOSCOW -- President Boris Yeltsin's health is fine and reports he may have visited a clinic last week do not indicate any substantial change in his condition, Yeltsin's spokesman said Tuesday.

Interfax said Monday the 68-year-old leader, whose health has often been the subject of speculation, had visited the elite Central Clinical Hospital last week for "planned procedures."

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Yakushkin declined to comment on the report, but said it did not indicate any serious developments in Yeltsin's health.

"I'd like to ask you to please report this responsibly," he said by telephone. "I have nothing to say about this because it isn't a fact that merits comment. If this was something serious, I would have given the corresponding commentary."
