Delta to Acquire Rest of Comair

CINCINNATI -- Delta Air Lines is buying the Comair commuter airline for about $1.8 billion in an effort to expand a regional connection between its hubs and cities served by smaller carriers.

Delta said Monday it will offer $23.50 a share for the 78 percent share of Comair Holdings Inc., parent of the Comair airline, it does not already own.

The boards of both companies have approved the deal.

The deal will result in few, if any, job reductions, Delta management said. Comair's senior executives are to be absorbed into Delta's management and Comair labor agreements remain in place.
