Officials Hurt in Crash

MOSCOW -- Three officials traveling with Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov were badly injured in a car crash in the Siberian town of Kemerovo, police said Friday.

Primakov and other senior ministers in his delegation were not involved in the accident, which happened just before midnight Thursday.

German Gref, first deputy head of the State Property Ministry, suffered a broken back and the head of a local committee, Vladimir Zhevago, broke his left shoulder after their limousine smashed into a truck, a spokesman said.

Alexander Morozov, also a member of the federal State Property Ministry, suffered concussion.

The police spokesman said their chauffeur-driven car had been moving along snow-bound streets at more than 100 kilometers per hour and had just sped through a red traffic light when the accident happened.
