Internet to Secure Aid

LONDON -- The Internet will be used to make sure food aid sent to Russia gets to its destination, U.S. Undersecretary of Agriculture Gus Schumacher said in London on Friday.

"We will send out the details on the Internet of the train schedules, so that people will know when to ask, 'Has the food arrived?'" Schumacher told an audience of academics at the School for Oriental and African Studies.

There was strong Russian media interest in the supply of aid, and the Internet information would make it easier for news organizations to monitor the aid flow, Schumacher said.
